Conference Connect - About Us
Company: About Us…
Background
Conference Connect was set up in 2009 as a provider for community based conferences. Its aim is to hold one a year; and this year it is based on the Issues faced by people diagnosed with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), when seeking Employment.
CC was established as part of the Young Enterprise scheme whereby young adults have the opportunity to create their own company. This has been a great gateway to channel the creativity, skills and entrepreneurship of its members.
In most circumstances Young Enterprise companies offer a tangible good, or product. However CC saw greater potential in its service based model.
Social Ethos
Ultimately CC likes to pride itself on its social enterprise ethos. Its core reason for choosing a service was due to the wider social benefits it saw on offer. And although it functions on an income producing, business model, CC sees its conference service as a benefit to all concerned.
This social ethos lies at the heart of Conference Connect. Even down to the venues it chooses...
This year CC chose the Octagon Centre, Hull for its event location. CC saw this as not only a start-of-the-art conference venue, but also it was affiliated to the community-based Goodwin Trust. Therefore maintaining its core values of a community based conference provider.
Main Aim
Above all, Conference Connect seeks to provide conferences that are much more than just a date in your diary. Instead it provides a unique opportunity to stimulate discussion on key, community based areas. An event that will benefit the community in the long run, not just for today.
